Finally I am posting again! Decided to start posting some of the old picture previously taken, of course these photo in this post was taken very long ago. Decided to post this incident first because, in the coming few posting, you might realize my bonnet become black. Yes, I changed my bonnet to carbon fiber bonnet because of AN ACCIDENT after a tracking session in Malaysia Sepang.

You might be guessing, I must be driving at a high speed and therefore this happened!! NO NO! In fact I just made a left turn from a traffic light about 200 meter behind, slowly picking up my speed t 80-90 km/h before this happened!

Moral of the story, please not only check if your bonnet is well secured, but also check the locking mechanism of the bonnet is it well secured, all screw in and tight before going for a long trip!! Esp those who frequent workshop, doing heavy modification. You never know if your mechanic forgotten to place a screw back.

Waited for tow truck to arrive 3 hours later, thanks to Justin aka Icebear and his cousin and gf for waiting together with me. Very touch!! And also people from KL workshops for helping me out this crisis. Big thank you for all who helped!

And I GOT A CARBON FIBER BONNET!!!!!

After so much addition to my honda civic si FD2, it finally touch down on Johor Bahur PG Circuit again. I was rather nervous as after I have spent so much money and time doing up my ride, this is the first test on the track. Good or Bad???? Money wasted??

So after 10 rounds the track what is my comment, fantastic! Handling is great!!

Previously, I have been tracking with the stock, original setting from factory which the handling is terrible for track! Guess my forum club brothers will agree, some don’t even dare to try it on track without at least adding additional bars. But we can’t blame the car, this is NOT A TYPE R. Honda didn’t build this car for track perfomance, but road performance it is definitely the best amount its class.

So here is the video. Taken by my sweetie, 5 minute trained camera woman, so give chance ok, she promise she will take as professionally as the F1 Racing cameraman next time. haha.. Enjoy anyway!!

Finally the long wait, after so much time and money spend. Here is present my dyno result of my JDM Honda Civic FD2.

Click Picture To Enlarge

Some people judge a car by doing test drive, some judge their money spend on a dyno chart to justified their money spend. For me, dyno chart is just an indication, like my tuner told me, higher hp and torque doesn’t always represent much if the driver don’t know how to handle and adapt to it. Right now I am in a mood to fall in love with my new ride.

Back to the dyno chart, I am actually very happy with the result, as I only expecting 180-190hp and will be very happy about it.

Anyway I am a not tech person who is still learn very much. So please pardon me if I say anything wrong.

About this dyno chart.

Tuner VisWork – Anthony Hong

ECU used HKS V Pro Version 3.1 with Camcon H

Camcon A/F function was not used at all.

Other modification can we view at my previous post!

Thanks to VisWork and Anthony Hong my tuner! Even though my car is their first 2006 Civic FD2 to be tuned with HKS V Pro, they still exercise their vast amount of tuning knowledge and breakthrough all difficulties to get my ride on the dyno machine. The process was not simple as some tuner might say ” why need so long”, just some sour grape saying etc, but they forgotten when they just started tuning a new car with new wiring, with new pin out diagram etc, didn’t they spend many sleepless night too. Furthermore, I can’t believe tuner who don’t understand or can’t tune HKS ECU are thick skin enough to say that.

Will post more picture about they dyno process soon. Been very busy with work so still can’t find time to process the photos and upload it here yet.

Welcome your comments, more comments more picture!

Cheers!

Information About This 2006 Honda Civic Lighten Crank Pulley!

Material Use

More information about T6 aluminum at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/6061_aluminum#6061-T6

Advantages:

Lighten and Underdrive crank pulleys are designed to slow down engine accessories and reduce parasitic loss.

Crank pulleys, attached to the outside of the crankshaft, are the source of power for a car’s accessories. The alternator, power steering, water pump, and air conditioner are all belt driven units, attached to the crank pulley, that use horsepower from an engine to provide their own services.

This draw of power by these accessories is called parasitic loss.

Underdrive crank pulleys increase an engine’s horsepower by reducing the power required to drive these external accessories.

By replacing factory pulleys with carefully resized units, the accessories are slowed enough so that their performance does not suffer, but just enough so that more horsepower is sent to the wheels and put to the ground. Where horsepower should be!

The R&D team at Viswork is dedicated to developing underdrive crank pulleys that provide great gains for track days and continue to deliver proper accessory output for everyday street use.
Other Benefits: benefit from increased accessory life on the street, and also deliver better mile-per-gallon fuel efficiency.

Compatible for both Manual and Auto 2006 Honda Civic Si FD2

This pulley come with 2 Version

Version 1 Same size as stock but the weight is reduce by 75%. Since it has the same diamension as the original Honda stock crank pulley, there isn’t a need for you to change the belt.

First version same size as stock but reduce in weight to 500g.

Second version size reduce from 6″ to 5.5″ and weight is close to 500g too. For this version you need to change your belt!

Material Used

According to the manufacturer of these pulley, the material is aluminium t6,
For your information you can refer to here
6061-T6

T6 temper 6061 has an ultimate tensile strength of at least 42,000 psi (290 MPa) and yield strength of at least 35,000 psi (241 MPa). In thicknesses of 0.250 inch (6.35 mm) or less, it has elongation of 8% or more; in thicker sections, it has elongation of 10%. T651 temper has similar mechanical properties.

Uses

6061 is widely used for construction of aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselages, more commonly in homebuilt aircraft than commercial or military aircraft. [2]

6061 is used for yacht construction, including small utility boats. [3]

6061 is commonly used in the construction of Bicycle Frames and components. The Cycling industry also uses 7005 and 7075 aluminium alloys.

Welding

6061 is highly weldable, using tungsten inert gas welding. Typically, after welding, the properties near the weld are those of 6061-0, a loss of strength of around 80%. The material can be re-heat-treated to restore -T4 or -T6 temper for the whole piece.

Extrusions

6061 is also an alloy used in the production of extrusions—long constant–cross-section structural shapes produced by pushing metal through a shaped

Finally updating about my ride again!

Got a new shoes for my ride, the Goodyear Eagle F1 no longer can serve me anymore, even though there is still about 40-50% track, but most of the compounds are gone and it become very noise and less grippy. Furthermore one of the tyre is puncture and I have to go pump in air every petrol fil.

Decided to give the Korean brand a try, after some research and recommendation from my forum (www.civicfd-sg.com) brothers, decided that this tyre should be able to serve me well for my driving style! Driver like me who is still learning how to handle my car well definitally need a good tyre that can grap the road well to ensure my safety.

When I reached Toh Guan Hankook workshop, I had already decided on 2 final model to choose from, either Hankook RS2 or Hankook S1 Evo.

The sale person was very helpful and they did a very short fact find on my driving activities and decided that I should take Hankook RS2 since I go track often and its grip better than Hankook S1 Evo. He told me that Hankook S1 Evo is a higher grade tyre for both performance and comfort. Since it has a balance characteristic, the performance is not as good as RS2 as it has to compromise the comfort objectives.

Was actually looking at 225/45/17 but they ran out of stock, luckily they had a last set 215/45/17. 215 to me is smaller in diamention,in layman term the tyre is slimer, thinner from the rim. The person saw that my ride was actually lower a bit and tole me 215/45/17 look as big as my Eagle F1 225. I don’t really believe, and they took my tyre out and did a side by side comparison, to my surprise Hankook 215/45/17 look as big as Eagle F1 225, do take note my Eagle F1 already completed 25,000km of mileage already. Accordingly to the boss, nowadays major tyre companies are using lesser material to produce their tyres to cut cost. You decide to believe or not. But I see it with my own eyes! My rear tyre is 215/45/17 putting beside the Hankook 215/45, my Eagle look like a 16 inche tyre!

$178 each, got 4 new shoes for my 5 months old Honda Civic FD2! Was invited to the lounge while waiting for them to get my new tyre up. Took a lift up to the second floor, was shock when the lift door open, as if I was walking into a pub. The design was very cosy and comfortable. I was served well with drinks and magazines. There was a pool table too. Very nice waiting place. Their customer service was excellent too. Salesperson very knowledgeable. Overall impressed and happy customer.

Below is some of the technical information about the tyre, just in case you want to know more!

Hankook Ventus Rs2 Z212
MAX PERFORMANCE
Y Rated

Tire Description
Hankook has created a tire to compete head-to-head with other popular street-class autocross tires. We have not tested these two (Falken Azenis vs. Hankook Z212) against each other, so we do not have solid track numbers yet. Expect an update on this page soon.

What Hankook says about this tire:
?The Ventus R-S2 Z212 was created from the successful Ventus RSS Z211 racing design, brought to the street with improved road contact surface area for dry traction and a tread design featuring exceptional water dispersion for wet conditions. The result is a street tire delivering maximum grip with proven Ventus Ultra-High Performance tread compound.?

What we think:
This might be the surprise ST Class tire.
They run very wide when compared to other tires the same size.
The tread design looks pretty cool? a lot of rubber at the shoulders for cornering grip and a good amount of space in the center of the tread for water dissipation.

Haven’t been driving my Civic FD2 for very long! Where has it been?

It’s at my garage workshop for some modification project! Yes, I can say it is the biggest project so far. Have been storing parts in my room until than, send them all in to install into my ride all at once. Of course, our car is still quite new to most workshop and they need sometime to understand and carefully install all the parts properly into our new car!

Things I am doing:

Heat Shield for my Air Intake

Change Air Intake Filter to HKS Mega Flow ( Mushroom Head)

Heat Shield Wrap
